FyberSearch Leads the Fight against Blog Comment SPAM by Introducing a New HTML Tag

Burien, Wash. - January 5th, 2005 -- In response to some complains about blog comment SPAM FyberSearch has introduced a new HTML tag that gives website owners the control over the content FyberSearch catalogs from web pages.

To stop content from being cataloged simply place the HTML tag before the content you would like FyberSearch to ignore and the HTML closing tag at the end of the content you would like FyberSearch to ignore. Examples and directions can be found at http://www.fybersearch.com/fyberspider.php

"Current search engines catalog and save all content from each website they visit unless they are told otherwise by the Robots Exclusion Protocol or the Robots META tag. Website owners have no way to tell search engines to include certain sections of content but to ignore other sections." Says Nathan Enns, Owner and Founder of FyberSearch.

"This can result in content being cataloged that website owners do not wish anyone to see in search results. A more specific problem relating to the content cataloged from websites is that many people leave comments on blogs to try and get more links pointing to their own website in order to increase their rankings in search engines. Deleting a bunch of posts every day is a time consuming problem bloggers face."

FyberSearch has taken the first step in solving this problem for website owners by allowing them to remove the comments section of their blogs (as well as any other content) to take some motivation away from spammers. In order to be the most useful for website owners it will require the participation of every search engine in existence. While this is not likely to happen soon there is a chance they will develop their own "ignore tags" or even use the one developed by FyberSearch. Until that happens, FyberSearch will be the only search engine giving website owners this type of control over how their website is cataloged.
